What We Believe

As a Southern Baptist Church we generally align with the Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention (http://www.sbc.net/aboutus/basicbeliefs.asp)

Scriptures: We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, submitting to this as the authority for our faith and practice.

God: There is only one God, who is wholly equal as three persons (Father, Son, Spirit). Jesus Christ is the Son, born of human flesh, sacrificed upon the cross for the sin of the world, and arose from the dead. The Spirit dwells with believers, convicts us of sin and righteousness, and empowers to see God’s will don on earth. The Father is without limit in power and love, working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called by His purpose.

Mankind: All men are created in God’s image, yet by their own choice are sinful in rebellion to God. In sin, all men are deserving of death and separation from a holy God. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, all men can receive forgiveness, become members of God’s family, for service and eternal life.

Salvation: Only by faith in Jesus Christ is salvation available. Trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice upon the cross for sin, all men can be born again of spirit, given true life, and receive forgiveness from the condemnation of sin. We can be secure in our salvation, knowing that Jesus died once for all that we may be saved.

Church: We believe the local Church is a body of believers joined with the larger Church throughout the world, as followers who trust Jesus as their Master. The local Church is autonomous, responsible for their operation and affairs, yet cooperating freely with others throughout the region and the world to fulfill God’s desires. Jesus is the only head of the Church.

The Christian Life & Family: Christ followers are responsible to develop an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus, in submission to God the Father, and under the power of the Holy Spirit. We are morally obligated to live out our lives as a model from the teachings of the Scriptures, the example left by Jesus, and with the prompting of the Holy Spirit. The family’s foundation is the martial commitment between a husband and wife (male and female), showing the Christian walk to their children, teaching them the ways of the Lord. Singles in Christ and singles again can also live exemplary lives unto the Lord, with or without children, in keeping with the Scriptures.

Jesus’ Return: We believe that Jesus will return to earth again, fulfilling what He said as recorded in the Scriptures, and in fulfillment of prophecy spoken by others in the Bible. Jesus’ return will be in victory, to see and end to all unrighteousness, and to judge the living and the dead. His Kingdom shall never end, though this world as we know it shall pass away.
